Introduction

Vazhapattu Virudhagiriswarar Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva, located in the Vazhapattu village, Panruti taluk, Cuddalore district, Tamil Nadu. Here the Presiding deity is called as Virudhagiriswarar.

A few years ago, friend Babu Selvaraj, who came to know that there was a lingam with a broken in a banana grove, went to look for it and entered this alley without knowing where it was. With a bit of hesitation, he went the way he was going and found a huge linga murti with a broken body facing west and bowed down. The lingam is believed to be 1000 years old. Then he started construction work single-handedly to make new lingam and new Nandi a complete temple along with the people of the area. When the temple construction work was completed up to the target, he passed away…. Some of the works remained the same. Later Mr. Selvarajan who joined Kadalur has completed the part of the construction works with great efforts and still the temple is incomplete stage.
