Puranic Significance

The east-facing temple has a five-tiered Rajagopuram at the front. After crossing it, the second place has a copper flagpole in front of the Lord. Here the Presiding deity is called as Lord – Arunachaleshwarar and Mother is called as Unnaamulai Amman. Lord has the Sanctum towards the east, Arthamandapam is the front hall and the Mother has the sanctum towards the south.

There are Vinayagar shrines and Murugan shrines in the prakaram. There is a statue of Ganesha near the temple. Bhairava and Shaneeswar are in the north-east. In the year 1917 AD in Vadapathimangalam, Sokkappamudiyar built this temple with 1845 bricks and Somasundaramudiyar rebuilt this temple.
