Introduction
Vadakku Veethi Vishwamithraviswanatha Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva, located in the Vadakku Veethi, Thiruvarur circle, Thiruvarur district, Tamil Nadu. This temple is located in the north-west corner of Thiruvarur Big Temple. Here the Presiding deity is called as Vishwamithraviswanatha and Mother is called as Vishalakshi. The Temple is believed to be 1000 years old. The Lord Vishwamitramakharishi poses majestically with Kamandalam in his hand and Rudrakshamalai around his neck. Due to the worship of Lord Viswamitra, this place came to be known as Viswamitra Vishwanathaswami. The two names of the Lord are displayed in separate shrines, Lord to the east and Mother to the south side. There are two Naga’s at the gate of the Lord’s sanctum. There is a small Nandi in front of the Lord. The temple itself is small but sacred and has two small shrines to the southeast. Those who have benefited say that if they visit the shrine of the Lord thrice and leave after seeing it, they will see progress in their quest within a few days.
