- Lord Shiva’s Presence: The temple is believed to be a site where Lord Shiva is in meditation, reflecting his serene and contemplative nature.
- Sage Vyagrapathar: According to tradition, Sage Vyagrapathar is said to have visited this temple, further enhancing its spiritual significance.
- Location and Architecture:
- The temple is situated east-facing on the banks of the Thamiraparani River.
- The Sanctum Sanctorum is designed in a square shape, indicative of ancient temple architecture.
- The temple is constructed from granite and stone, featuring intricately adorned pillars and wall carvings.
- Unlike many other shrines in the region, this temple does not have a Kodimaram (flagstaff) and did not have a Nandi (sacred bull) statue for a long time. Recently, a statue of Nandi, Shiva’s mount, has been installed in the temple.
