Introduction

It is said that the Lord of Srivilliputhur wore the garlands he wore in 108 Divinities in the evening. To commemorate this, 108 Divyadesa Perumal images are painted on the walls around the Andal temple sanctum. You can visit all the Perumals including Thirupaarkadal and Vaikundam Perumal. AD It was expanded and built in 1536 by the Pandya and Chola kings. This is the 90th Divya Desam out of the 108 Divya Desams which received the Mangalasasana of Perumal. Puranic Significance

During the early morning walk in all the Perumal temples, Tirupallandum and Tirupavai are sung. Srivilliputhur is the birthplace of a father and daughter who sang both the Prabandhas. It was at this place that Lakshmi’s mother became Andala and Periyarvar, an aspect of Karutadhar, appeared. Moreover, both of them are one of the Alvars. It is also known as the ‘Birthplace of Kotha’ and the ‘Land of Govindan’. Marriage on the order of Panguni: Periyarvar took Andala to Srirangam to marry Rengamannar. When they reached Kavirikarai, she thought that going to the pulpit where her husband was would not be respectful to him. Therefore, she begged Rengamannar to subdue her. Rengamannar also brought her with him. In the meantime,Periyarvar looked inside the dentist to see his daughter. But the Lord was astonished to see that he was not there. Thinking that his daughter Rengamannar had invited him, he kept her in his hometown and asked her to marry Andala. Rengamannar also agreed. Accordingly, on the order of Panguni, Andala was married to Rengamannar at Srivilliputhur. Based on this, on the day of the Panguni order, the Rengamannar wedding and the election ceremony take place. Father with affection for daughter: Periyarvar, who raised him with great affection for Andal who got him as a child in Nandavanam where he was brought up. Periyarvar exemplified how a father should have affection for his daughter. When he went to marry Andala to Rengamannar, Andala joined Swami. He did not see his daughter then, because of the abundance of energy,She sang, “I grew up with a daughter like a lady with world-famous fame. She was taken away by Chenganmal.” May she live there as special as she was here! He sang this song with his father’s mental words. Men believe that singing this song will increase their affection for their children.

Beliefs

Devotees pray to Italam Perumal for marriage blessings, child blessing, education, business development, family prosperity and agriculture. Applying butter to Perumal and pure dry clothing to Swami.
