Puranic Significance:

• Mythological Origin: The temple’s Shiva Lingam is believed to have been installed by Lord Kartikeya. According to the Skanda Purana, after killing the demon Tarakasura, Kartikeya felt guilty. To atone for his actions, he was advised to establish and worship Shiva Lingams. Stambeshwara Mahadev is one of the three places where Kartikeya established these Lingams.
