Introduction
Sithanallur Ekambareswarar Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva, located in the Sithanallur village, Thiruvarur circle, Thiruvarur district, Tamil Nadu. There are two temples in the south of Athipuliyur. This area is currently in Siddhanallur. Here the Presiding deity is called as Ekambareswarar and Mother is called as Kamakshi.
Puranic Significance
The Temple is believed to be 1000 years old. On the way from Attipuliyur to Siddhanallur, one can reach the Shiva temple by crossing the railway track through a small passage in front of a large pond. Due to the lack of a proper road, people migrated to the nearby cities to worship Shiva, the temple started decaying without proper maintenance, and the modern trains plying on the near-by railway track make a lot of damage. Due to this, the temple building made of bricks is constantly experiencing a lot of vibration. The trees on the walls have grown and become discoloured. Trees are growing in the sanctum sanctorum and causing a lot of damage.
Lord Ekambareswarar blesses towards the east and Kamakshi towards the south. A small connecting hall is an open exterior hall. Tenmugan is the only one in Karurai Kottam. Vinayakar Murugan Sandesar has a small box-like sanctum built for all three. Both Sanaicharan and Bhairava have similar structures in the north-east. There is a well in the north. Although the temple looks big from the outside, it has many problems inside. The only comforting thing here is Shivacharya, who performs puja with devotion. Mr. Sreedharguru (9600530135) has been doing pujas not only in this temple, but also in other Shiva temples like Manalur, Kakazani etc.
