Introduction

Siddhesvara Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva located in the Hemavathi Group of temples complex, in Hemavathi Village in Anantapur District in Andhra Pradesh, India. The temple is situated on Hiriyur to Madakasira route.

Puranic Significance

Hemavathi is home to a remarkable group of temples built between 8th and 10th century AD under the reign of the Nolamba Dynasty.

Special Features

This temple faces west and is preceded by a garden area. Within the garden, you can find several Lingas, Nandis (bull statues), inscriptional pillars, and architectural fragments. As you proceed towards the entrance, you’ll come across the Dhwaja Sthambam (flag post) located in front of the entrance. Adjacent to the Dhwaja Sthambam, on the left side, there is an Agni Kunda (Homa Kunda), and further to the left, you’ll see a four-pillared Asthana Mandapa. Immediately after the entrance, there is another four-pillared Mandapa, which may have once housed a Nandi idol but is now empty.
