Introduction
Shivanandar Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva, located in the Shivanandar town, Koothanallur circle, Thiruvarur district, Tamil Nadu. This temple, which was once a big temple, now stands in a dilapidated condition on the north side of the town. Some siddha’s diligently take Linga Murthys from it with their hands and keep them alone in a single shed for worship. A large linga murti is placed facing west and named Tunaganatha. At the gate of his sanctum there is a small Lord Ganesha and a small Balamurugan. There is one Sandesar and one Little Nandi. Behind this shrine there are two lingams and two Nandi’s are there. The temple now we will worship the gods standing in the villages instead of the temples standing in a row of tolls. The temple is said to be more than 1000 years old.
