Introduction
Location:
- Situated in Shirasangi Village, Savadatti Taluk, Belagavi District, Karnataka, India.
- Located on the Ramdurg to Savadatti route at the foothills.
Puranic Significance:
- Believed to have been built in the 1st century CE.
- Mentioned in inscriptions from 1148 CE and 1186 CE.
- The place was historically known as Rishishringapura, Pirishingi, and Hirishingi.
- Sage Rishyasringa performed penance here, disturbed by three demons: Narundasura, Bettasura, and Nalundasura.
- Goddesses Chikkumbasura and Hirekumbasura annihilated the demons, leading to the establishment of the temple.
Beliefs and Devotional Practices:
- Devotees pray for relief from sins, problems, and general welfare.
- Offerings include jaggery, wheat, coconuts, rice, edible oil, and Tula Bhara Seva (weight-based offerings).
- Anna Dasoha Seva (offering food to the poor) is a part of worship.

- Maunappanagavi Cave: Located on a hillock, can accommodate 200 people and contains a water pit.
- Siddeshwaragavi Cave: Situated on a nearby hillock, accessed by 200 steps, housing a Shiva Linga.
