Puranic Significance:
- Connected to the story from the Ramayana where Lord Hanuman is depicted without his tail.
- Hanuman was delayed in bringing the Shivalinga from Kailash, and by the time he arrived, Rama had already performed the ritual with a sea-sand Shivalinga created by Sita.
- In anger, Hanuman tried to pull the sand Shivalinga using his tail, which broke, causing him to fall, resulting in his tail being torn.
- The Hanuman here is worshipped in this form, without his tail.
