Introduction

Rahali’s Sun Temple is the oldest Sun temple in Madhya Pradesh. This Sun temple is ancient temple located in Rahali Tehsil of Sagar district. This temple is built at the confluence of Sonar and Dehar river in Rahali tehsil. A huge temple of Mahadev ji is built next to the Sun temple. The Sun Temple is very beautiful and in the womb of the temple, a statue of the Sun God is found. Along with the Sun God, other gods and goddesses have also been carved in this statue. On looking at the Sun Temple of Rahli, it seems that there must have been Garbha Graha, Mandap and Ardha Mandap in it. But with time all these things got destroyed; now only the sanctum in this temple remains. Sculpture is also to be seen in the outer wall of this temple, this small ancient temple is 1000 years old surya temple in Madhya Pradesh. The Sun Temple of Rahli is very famous. This temple is located in Rahli Tehsil of Sagar district. Rahli Tehsil is situated at a distance of about 40 Kms from Sagar District. This temple is built on the banks of river Sunar in Rahali Tehsil .
