- Hanuman left his post to visit Ayodhya without informing Lord Jagannatha, leading to the ocean intruding into Puri.
- Upon his return, Hanuman was bound with a rope (“Bedi”) by Lord Jagannatha and instructed to remain in Puri, earning him the name Bedi Hanuman.
- He is also called Daria Hanuman due to the temple’s proximity to the ocean.
