Introduction
Pillaipanangudi Rajarajeswarar Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva, located in the Pillaipanangudi, Nagai circle, Nagapattinam district, Tamil Nadu. Panangudi is divided into two towns, Pillaipanangudi and Chinnapanangudi.Here is a Shiva temple facing east in the western part of the big lake at the front of the town, this temple was built as a new temple after the old temple was destroyed. Here the Presiding deity is called as Lord Rajarajeswarar and Mother is called as Rajarajeswari. The Lord has the sanctum towards the east and the goddess towards the south. There is a long hall in front of the Lord. Outside it is Nandi in the hall. Tenmugan is in Karurai Kottam. Vinayagar, Murugan and Lakshmi have temples as Prakara sthalam. In the northeast the Navagrahas are in a hall. Bhairava is in a small house. In front of the temple is a large pond and adjacent to it the royal tree. Anjaneyar is in a hall towards the north. The Temple is believed to be 1000 years old
