Introduction

Perumangudi Perumeswarar Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva, located in the Perumangudi village, Papanasam circle, Thanjavur district, Tamil Nadu. This is a small Shiva temple, on the north side of which there is a small shrine with a lingam facing east and a Nandi in front of it. When the pond near the temple is cleaned, the lingam is found and hence it is worshiped as Perumeswarar. Mrigashira Nakshatra, Nakshatra is triangular in shape. It is a constellation of three stars. It is shaped like a deer head. Three stars are similar in shape to the three eyes of a coconut. It can also be said that it is like the trident of Lord Shiva. The Temple is believed to be 1000 years old.
