Introduction
Perambur Jyotirlingam Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva, Located in the Perambur village, Needamangalam circle, Thiruvarur district, Tamil Nadu. Perambur village is on the Needamangalam-Rishiyur road. There are two Shiva temples in this town. In the centre of the town is the Jambukeswarar temple. The temple is situated on the banks of a large pond in the north-east. This town of Perambur is full of Vaishnava religious community. The shrine where Mahan Sri Bodendra Swami, who was born in Kanchi, lived here. The temple priest says that this temple was consecrated by Bothendra Swami. A small single sanctum temple. Presiding deity is called as Jyotirlingam Shiva; Lord has east facing Sanctum in the temple. Goddess name is not known. The Lord is a large linga murthy and the Goddess is facing South in the sanctum sanctorum itself. At the front is a long tin shed. Tenmukhan is in Karurai Kotam. There is a large pond on the south side of the temple. The temple is said to be more than 1000 years old
