Introduction
Pappakudi Kasi Viswanath Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva, located in the Pappakudi village, Udayarpalayam circle, Ariyalur district, Tamil Nadu. Pappakudi is nine kilometres north of the Gangaikondacholapuram junction on the Chennai Kumbakonam National Highway NH36. The village is half a kilometre west of the main road. The temple, which was a small temple for many years, has been built big temple. Visalakshi is located along with Kashi Vishwanath as a Shiva temple towards the east. The temple is at the entrance of the town. Here the Lord is called as Kasi Viswanathar and Mother is called as Kasi Vishalakshi
Puranic Significance
The temple is said to be more than 1500 years old.The Lord is in medium sized lingam form. Karurai Kottam has Tenmugan and Lingotpavar Brahman Durga.The front hall presents a beautiful scene with the remains of Panchamurthys. There is a big Nandi in the small hall outside the lord sanctum.Prakaram has temples only for Lord Vinayagar and Murugan. In the north-east there is an Audaiyar Lingam. In the south-east there are four people who are facing the sun in the temple.
