Introduction

• Location: Parshuram Mahadev Temple is a cave Shiva temple located at the border of Pali and Rajsamand districts in Rajasthan, India. The main cave temple is situated in Rajsamand district, while Kund Dham is in Desuri Tehsil of Pali district. It is approximately 100 km from Pali, 10 km from the Kumbhalgarh Fort, 14 km from Sadri town, and 160 km from Jodhpur. The cave is 3,995 feet above sea level.
• Access: The temple can be accessed via a path with 500 steps from the Sadri side. This side offers easier access compared to other routes. The temple is renowned for its natural features and serene location in the Aravalis mountain range.

Puranic Significance:

• Legend: According to tradition, Parshuram, the sixth avatar of Lord Vishnu, carved the cave using his axe and performed rigorous penance here to worship Lord Shiva. The cave contains naturally formed figures of Lord Ganesh and Lord Shiva and features nine Kunds (water tanks) that never dry up.
• Sacred Elements: Inside the cave, the natural formations include a Shivling that continuously emits a natural stream, and the cave structure resembles a cow’s horn. It is believed that Parshuram received divine blessings and artifacts from Lord Shiva during his penance. A unique aspect of the temple is a hole in the cave Shivling, through which milk offered during rituals does not overflow, symbolizing a divine presence.

Special Features:

• Ancient Temple: The temple is carved out of the rock by Parshuram himself and is a significant site for devotees seeking blessings from Lord Shiva.
• Natural Wonders: The temple features naturally formed figures and sacred Kunds, adding to its spiritual significance and allure.
• Fairs: The temple attracts large crowds during fairs held in August/September, specifically on Shravan Shukla Shashthi and Saptami, drawing around 900,000 visitors annually.

Festivals:

• Major Fairs: The most significant events are the fairs held twice a year during Shravan Shukla Shashthi and Saptami (6th and 7th), which see a large influx of pilgrims and visitors. The temple does not have special celebrations for Parshuram Jayanti.
