Introduction
Lakshmi Narasimhaswamy Temple is a Narasimha Temple located in Palayapettai, Krishnagiri District, and Tamil Nadu. The temple is 500 meters away from Krishnagiri Suburban Bus Station in Palayapettai. There are two Garudakambas in front of the temple. One has an image of Hanumana and the other has an image of Garuda. If he crosses the altar and the flagpole, Garudalwar is in the state of sataseva. After that, the beautiful sixteen quarter hall has been established. After that, inner hall, artha mandapam and karuvarai etc. are situated in the temple. The sanctum plane is octagonal in shape, with five levels at a height of 50 feet.
Puranic Significance
Narasimha, the third in the sanctum sanctorum, is depicted calmly on a two-foot-high pedestal, well-footed, bearing the Sangus Chakradari with four arms and Maha Lakshmi on his left lap. Also in the temple complex are Nathamunis, Nammalwar, Kalinganarthana and Anjaneyar with wrists. Venugopalar is located in the west facing shrine in the temple premises.
There are many inscriptions in this temple. There is an inscription in which the temple was donated land by Vedanta Desikar in Kummanur village. His reign was from 1268 to 1369. It is known from the inscriptions that this temple was built by Pallavan. The umbrella of this temple is provided by Thirupathi Devasthanam. This umbrella is used during festivals time.
Festivals
Special worship is conducted every Sunday. Narasimha Jayanti is celebrated with great fervour. A 10-day festival takes place in the month of May- June. Special worship is conducted on Vaikundekadasi and Puratasi Mondays.
