Introduction
The Pidari Chelladi Amman Temple is located in Oruvandhur and is dedicated to Pidari Chelladi Amman. The temple name is Pidari Chelladi Amman temple. The Goddess presides here as Chellandiamman. There are shrines for Malayala Karupanna swamy, Pattavan, Madurai Veeran, Sadaichi Amman, Pechi Amman and Sapthakannis (seven maidens) in the prakaram. Many thousand years ago, the soil of this region was salty. While men were digging the salt soil, the crowbar stopped with a sound and blood began to ooze out. There they found a beautiful idol of the Goddess there. People overcome by excitement, erected a temporary green tent and began worshipping. The Goddess came to be known as Pidari Chellandiamman.
Puranic Significance
About a thousand years back, the soil of this region was salty. While men were digging the salt soil, the crowbar of one stopped with a sound with blood coming out. On checking, they found a beautiful Goddess Idol. People in their ecstasy, erected a temporary green tent and began worshipping. The Goddess stayed there permanently with the name Pidari Chellandiamman. In due course, with the efforts of the peopled backed by the grace of the Goddess, the present temple came into being.
Beliefs
Devotees seek child boon, removal of obstacles in marriage talks and to achieve excellence in education. Abishek are performed for the Goddess with Vastras –clothing.

- In addition to the main deity, the temple features shrines for various other deities such as Malayala Karupannasamy, Pattavan, Madurai Veeran, Sadaichi Amman, Pechiamman, and Sapthakannis (seven maidens) within the temple’s corridors.
Festivals
- The temple celebrates various festivals, including a 15-day Masi Magam festival in February-March, a Vel festival in Margazhi (December-January), and special pujas on New Moon and Full Moon days each month.
- The temple is known for its 1008 milk pot abhishek festival, which is conducted on the last Friday of the Adi month (July-August).
