Introduction
Narimanam Agastheeswarar Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva, located in the Narimanam village, Nagapattinam circle, Nagapattinam district, Tamil Nadu. This town is 16 km away from Thiruvarur – Gangalanjeri – Nagore road. This is a small east facing temple with a large pond in front. Here the Presiding deity is called as Agastheeswarar in the form of Lingam and Mother is called as Soundaryanaki.
Puranic Significance
One of the places of worship of Agathiyar, therefore the Lord is called as Agastheeswarar Mother Soundaryanayaki. From outside, it looks like an ordinary temple, but this temple is more than a 1000-year-old Chola temple with inscriptions of the later Chola’s. In Karurai Kotam there are only Tenmugan in the south and Durga in the north. There are no other Goshtamurthys or Prakara temples. There is also a well in the north. Outside the Lord’s Mandapam there is a small Nandi Mandapam. Pujas for special days are being conducted.
