Introduction

Nagore Kavaratheru Vadhakunathar Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva, located in the Kavaratheru, Nagore, Nagapattinam district, Tamil Nadu. Here the Presiding deity is called as Vadhakunathar. Kavara-Theru to the west from the Road junction at the entrance to Nagai from Nagore area, at the end of this street is the Dakshanamurthy Swami temple known as the Dakshanamurthyswamy Math. The Linga there may be the Lingamurtha he worshipped. However, it is not known why it is towards the north. A ground space has a sanctum sanctorum with a small vimana built towards the north and a medium-sized lingam inside. There is a hall in front of the sanctum sanctorum. At the gate of the sanctum sanctorum there is a small Ganesha Perumal Gangaiyamman Murugan. The temple is said to be more than 1000 years old.
