NAG PANCHAMI: LORD SHIVA APPEARS 100 FEET UNDERWATER

According to mythological belief, the Shivalinga located at this place was founded by Maharishi Patanjali, an incarnation of Sheshnag and it also built this well with its own hands. This temple is also called Nagkuyan. Information about the coupe suggests that the coupe is 2074 years old.

Here devotees have to descend deep into the place to see Lord Shiva. Maharishi Patanjali, an avatar of Sheshnag used to teach his disciples here. Being an incarnation of Sheshnag, he used to teach everyone under the cover of the curtain and no one could remove the curtain. The mystery regarding the water of the well remains to this day. No one knows where the water comes from. Continuous water comes from the walls of the well. For which two pumps are used for cleaning.

In the coupe, you can see that there are steps in it all around. To reach the plinth of the well below, 40 steps are located from the south, 37 from the west, 60 – 60 steps from north and east wall. You have to pass 15 more stairs to reach the Shivling. The south side of the well is the tallest and has 40 steps, which testifies that this well is made entirely of architecture. Devotees also throng this temple on the special occasion of Nag Panchami.
