Introduction
Mudikondan Mudikondeeswar Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva, located in the Mudikondan village, Kilvelur circle, Nagapattinam district, Tamil Nadu. The village is situated on the banks of a small stream. The Temple is located in the city of Cholas. The Shiva temple, which was a big temple at that time, has been destroyed in the course of time, but recently it has been converted into a small single chamber temple towards the east and a front hall has been built with a tin shed in front of it. Here the Presiding deity is called as Lord Mudikondeeswar and Mother Name is unknown.
Puranic Significance
The temple is said to be more than 1300 years old. The Lord is a medium sized lingamurthi. Vinayagar and Balamurugan are present at the Lord’s shrine gate. There is a nandi and an altar in front of the Lord. Sandesar is in his usual place. There are separate Navagrahas in the North-East side of the temple. On the north side of the temple there is a small lingam, and sun god. A shed should be set up for these, the idols are roofless. Non-existent.
