Introduction
Melaparuthiyur Kailasanathar Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva, Located in the Melaparuthiyur, Kudavasal circle, Thiruvarur district, Tamil Nadu. Here the Presiding deity is called as Kailasanathar and Mother is called as Annapurani. This Melaparuthiyur is the place where Sun was worshipped the Shiva; the village was called as Parithiyur and later became Melaparuthiyur. Lord- Kailasanathar Lord – Annapurani is a single sanctum sanctorum facing east and is built with black stone up to the roof level. It is an ancient building with a hall in front. The Lord is seated towards the east as a medium-sized lingamurthy. On one side of the sanctum sanctorum is Maha Vishnu, Vinayaka and on the other side is Subramanian. Ambikai is towards the south and Sandesar is towards the south. There is a nandi and an altar in front of the Lord. The temple is said to be more than 1500 years old.
