Introduction

Melamaruthandanallur Shiva Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva, Located in the Melamaruthandanallur village, Mayiladuthurai circle, Mayiladuthurai district, Tamil Nadu. This village is divided into two parts namely Upper and Lower Marutandanallur. There was an ancient temple on the big hill in Melamaruthanda Nallur, which decayed over time and the peoples took the idols and made a long tin shed. The Lord is towards the East and the Ambikai is towards the South. Near Sandesar in front of Nandi altar, south facing Dakshanamurthy, behind Vinayagar and Subramaniyar are there. The Temple is believed to be 1300 years old.
