Introduction
Maravapatti Perumal Temple is dedicated to Lord Perumal, located in the Maravapatti, Palamedu Road, Madurai district. A 700 year old Perumal temple with a fort wall has been found in an area of one acre at the foothills of Maravapatti village. Perumal temple has, Chaturakaruvara, Ardhamandapam, Mugamandapam and Front Mandapam. There is no sculpture in the plane. The 700 year old Pandyar temple is evidenced by the carvings with small dragons on the feet, the wall, two fish on the pillars, and the trunk and nose fish symbols. The villagers say that there were 4 elephants in this temple and a big chariot came around it during the festivals. Both the temples are dilapidated due to banyan trees growing on the plane. The antrala and the mandapa are lost completely.
