Introduction
Dwat Mahadev Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva located near Mani Village in Chamba Tehsil in Chamba District in Himachal Pradesh, India. The temple can reached from Mani village after trekking of about 3.5 Kms or through vehicle from Mani village.
Puranic Significance
According to legend, the Pandavas are said to have built this temple in a single night during their exile. The temple is believed to be approximately 1000 years old, steeped in history and mythology.
The temple faces east and offers picturesque views of the wooded valley below. It is situated amidst a dense forest of deodar trees, creating a serene and tranquil atmosphere. At the entrance to the temple, you can find a Nandi statue facing towards the sanctum. The temple is composed of two main sections: the sanctum and an entrance porch. Within the sanctum, there is a Shiva Linga, a sacred representation of Lord Shiva. The shikara (tower) over the sanctum follows a pyramidal style, adding to the temple’s architectural charm and significance.
