Introduction
Shri Kedar Temple (also known as Kedareswara Temple) is a medieval temple dedicated to Shiva located at top of Madanachala hill in Hajo, Kamrup, Assam. The Kedar temple is located on Madanachal Hill in a serene spot amidst verdant forests, dedicated to Lord Shiva (Kedareshwar). The Shiva Linga inside the shrine is believed to have been here since the beginning of time. The temple was later built in Ahom architectural style by King Rajeswar Singha in 1753 AD. There are two sacred ponds adjacent to the main shrine and a newly built Durga temple. A flight of stone steps through the jungles leads to a large rock-cut image of Ganesha. The central chamber has a linga. The linga in this temple is considered as Swayambhu lingam.
