Introduction
Hidimba Temple is dedicated to demoness Hidimba, consort of Bhima, located in Lavana Village in Khanpur Taluk in Mahisagar District of Gujarat, India.
Puranic Significance
This temple is situated at the highest elevation within the Kaleshwari group of monuments, and to reach it, one must ascend approximately 230 steps. Unfortunately, the temple is in a state of disrepair. It features three entrances, hence it is referred to as the “temple with three entrances” on the ASI name board.
The temple has suffered significant damage over time, with roofs and walls lost, except for the lower portions. Inside the temple, there is an image of large feet that is commonly associated with Hidimba, the demoness wife of Bhima. The size of these feet suggests that the sculpture to which they originally belonged was brought from another location and installed here. Lavana is located along the Lunavada to Modasa route, and the temple is easily accessible from Lunavada by bus.
