Puranic Significance
It is said that it is mentioned in Sukhsagar that mother Rukmani was abducted from Kundalpur. In ancient times it was known as Kundanpur. Rukmani, who had come to worship Ambika, was abducted by Lord Krishna. For this reason people’s faith is attached to this holy place. This monastery has the architectural configuration of a flat pillar in a square shape. On the night of 1998, unknown thieves stole the precious statue of Maa Rukmani from Kundalpur. Later this statue was recovered from Hindoli district of Rajasthan in April 2002 itself. After this the statue of Maa Rukmani was kept in the Gyaraspur Museum in Vidisha. Probably this temple belongs to the time of the Gupta rulers and was built around the time of the Gupta rulers in the 6th century. It is also known as Flat Roof Temple. The roof of this temple is flat and rests on 30 pillars. 2 doors are adjacent and the main door is in the middle. At present there is no statue inside the pot and there is no carving or sculptures.
