Introduction
Kulithalai Neelameka Perumal Temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu, located in the Karur District, Kulithalai Circle, Kulithalai Town Hall Street. Here the presiding deity is called as Neelamega perumal, and Mother is called as Kamalanayagi Thayar and Andal Shrine is unique in this temple.
Puranic Significance
The temple was constructed by Veerapandiyan, the son of Parakrama Pandiyan, who flourished around 1500 years ago. It was also constructed by Mahendravarma and the first Narasimha Pallavan. Like Srirangam, the temple here has seven floors with celestial abodes. Ananthazhvan, a devotee, contributed to the reconstruction of this temple and Thirupullani temple in the 18th century.
Special Features
When we enter the temple premises, the cool breeze touches our bodies. The reason for this is the Nandavana tree near the Kodimaram after passing through the Rajagopuram entrance. Opposite to it is the Vaikunta Ekadasi Mandapam. Upon entering there, we can witness the majestic Neelamega perumal with Sri Devi and Bhoodevi in the celestial wedding ceremony. Nearby, Mother Kamalanayagi Thayar is present in her divine form.
