Introduction

Kothangudi Agatheeswarar Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva, located in the Kothangudi village, Tharangambadi circle, Mayiladuthurai district, Tamil Nadu. Nalladai is exactly 12 kms on Sembanarkoil- Nalladai Road, west on the south road of Shiva temple here there is a big wave phone tower and it will take you to Kothangudi. Kotavan – Kudi has become kothangudi. The village and the small temple are well managed by the locals.

This East facing temple, Here the Lord Agatheeswarar is facing towards the east side and Mother Amritavalli is facing towards the South side. A mandapam connects both the Lord and the Goddess. Nandi is standing in front of the Lord outside the sanctum. There is Vinayagar Murugan at the sanctum sanctorum gate. To the north of this temple towards the east is a separate temple of Lakshmi Narayan. Opposite there is Hanuman shrine. The Temple is believed to be 1000 years old. The temple is very well maintained. Pujas are also conducted regularly.
