Introduction
Koothur Kashi Viswanath Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva, located in the Koothur village, Budalur circle, Thanjavur district, Tamil Nadu. Koothur should take the road that leads north to Koothur Dharmasasta temple. This Dharmashastha Temple is also great. There are many temples built by Chola kings in Chola nation. Apart from Shivalayams and Vishnu temples, Aiyanar and Dharmashastha temples, which are considered as village deities, were built by the Cholas.At the end of Agrahara Street is the small Kashi Vishwanath Temple. Agrahara Street is quiet; some houses have started to be remodelled. At the end of the street, in a secluded grove-like environment, the Lord has a sanctuary.
Puranic Significance
Here the Presiding deity is called as Lord – Kashiviswanatha and Mother is called as Kashi Visalakshi. The deity brought from Kashi and built in the temple is in a miniature form. At the gate of his temple are Vinayak and Valli Deivanai Samedha murugan, on a platform nearby there are other idols of Sandesar and other idols. Similarly, Ambika also has a separate south-facing sanctum. There is also a small well in the east side of the temple. There are two large royal trees. It can be seen as an ancient temple that has passed five hundred of years. The Lord blesses us by accepting the morning and evening and special day pujas without fail.
