Introduction
Karuveli Kasi Viswanath Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva, located in the Karuveli town, Nagai circle, Nagapattinam district, Tamil Nadu. Karuveli is a small village on the banks of a large pond in the middle of a large paddy growing area. On the north bank of this pond is this Shiva temple is located, facing towards the east side. Here the presiding deity is called as Kasi Viswantha and Mother is called as Kasi Visalatchi.
Puranic Significance
The Lord Kashi Vishwanath Temple, which has been in disrepair for many years, will be revived with the contribution of Aranpani Foundation- Coimbatore and local people.
The old Temple is believed to be 800 years old. The east facing temple has the Lord towards the east and Ambigai towards the south. There is a front hall before the Lord, Nandi is outside the hall. The Lord is a medium-sized lingamurthi. Tenmukan lingotpavar Brahman durga are the Karurai Kotams. The temple structure is mostly made of stone. Vinayagar Murugan Makalakshmi has its own temples. For those who, Surya Chandran Bhairava, separate houses are being set up.
