Introduction
Karaikal Kalyanasundereswarar Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva, located in the Karaikal circle, Karaikal district, Tamil Nadu. It is located on Sub-jail Road on the north bank of Arsalar. This small temple is more famous temple in the karaikal. Here the Presiding deity is called as Kalyanasundareswarar and Mother is called as Soundaravalli.
Puranic Significance
It is believed that the old temple was 1000 years old. The newly constructed temple has a small decorative archway. Upon entering, there is a tall flagpole, Nandi, and Kodimara vinayak. Lord Kalyanasundereswarar has a sanctum to the west, Soundaravalli has a sanctum sanctorum to the south, and the mandapam connecting the two sanctuaries, there is Vinayaka on the south and Murugan on the north and Nandi facing the Lord. In Karurai, Durgai, Brahman Lingodbhava, then Mugan Vinayagar.
On the north side there is a sanctum sanctorum. In the south-west corner, Ayyappan has a shrine facing east. The temple is situated in the eastern part of the temple where Bhairav and Surya join together. In the north-east there are idols of Navagraha and Nagas. By worshiping the Lord named Kalyanasundereswarar, the marriage will be completed easily.
