    • According to historical accounts by Laxmikant Tripathi, Sithaupurwa (also known as Sronitpur) was the capital of Daityaraj Mahabali’s son, Wanasur.
    • Wanasur established a large Shivling in this temple.
    • The temple was demolished during the war between Shri Krishna and Wanasur but later renovated by Janmejay, the son of Parikshit.
    • The place eventually came to be called Wanpura Janmejay and, over time, its name evolved to Banipara Jinayi.

    • The Usha Burj, a pond, and a statue of Vishnu are located near the temple, serving as important landmarks that support the mythological connection to the area.

  • The temple houses a 50-centimetre (20-inch) Shiva Lingam placed on a 1-metre (3 ft 3-inch) high base (Argha), making it a unique focal point for worship.
