The Kannamangalam Shankara Narayana Temple, also known as Thiruvonamala Temple or Thiruvarachanamkunnu Temple, is a significant ancient temple located in Kannamangalam, Kerala. It is dedicated to Lord Shankara Narayana, a merged form of Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu.

Age and Significance: The temple is believed to be approximately 2500 years old, making it one of the oldest temples in Kerala. It is considered the second oldest temple in the state after the famous Sabarimala Temple.
Location: The temple is situated on the Thiruvonamalai Hills, which are approximately 2200 feet above sea level. It offers picturesque views of the surrounding landscape and is on the way to Mini Ooty.
Construction: The temple is constructed entirely from granite, showcasing the architectural and sculptural prowess of the time in which it was built.
Yogi Consecration: The temple is said to have been consecrated by a Yogi, and there is a Yogi Samadhi located in front of the temple, adding to its spiritual significance.
Limited Pujas: Presently, the temple does not conduct regular pujas and rituals. Pujas are organized only once a year. The limited worship activities may be due to the temple’s historical and antiquarian value.
Natural Spring: The temple is supplied with water from a natural spring that flows down the rock, providing both a practical and symbolic source of purity and blessings.
