Introduction

Kallapuliyur Kakoleshwarar Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva, located in the Kallapuliyur village, Kumbakonam circle, Thanjavur district, Tamil Nadu. He who destroys dharma and pursues adharma will attain twenty-one hells in a row. There are Ishwaramurthys who rescue us from twenty-one hells. One of them is the Lord who rescues us from Kakolam and is called Kakoleswarar. The temple currently stands in the middle of a field without any connecting road. The temple which was in a completely dilapidated condition has been raised as a completely new temple by the Aran Pansi Trust Committee. The Temple is believed to be 1000 years old. Here the presiding deity is called as Lord Periyalingamurthiya Kakoleshwarar is located in the east facing sanctum. Kajaprishta vimanam has been arranged for the Lord. A mandapam connects the two sanctuaries to the south of the shrine.
