- Kalasa is linked to the divine wedding of Lord Shiva (Parameshwara) and Goddess Parvati held in Kasi.
- The congregation caused an imbalance in the earth’s axis, prompting Lord Shiva to send Sage Agasthya south to restore balance.
- Sage Agasthya’s Journey:
- Agasthya was granted a boon by Shiva to witness the wedding ceremonies from wherever he halted.
- At Kalasa, Sage Agasthya halted, and a Shiva Linga manifested from his Kalasha (pot).
- He built a temple and enshrined the Linga, naming it Kalaseshwara.
- Lingam: Housed in a silver mandapa within the temple.
