Introduction
Veera Anjaneya Temple is dedicated to God Hanuman located at Kalambur Village in Thiruvannamalai District of Tamilnadu. The temple is situated in Kalambur which is on the way to Arani from Polur. Puranic Significance
Years back, a monkey died of electrocution in Kalambur Bazaar. It was a Vaikunda Ekadasi day. One Narayanasami found the monkey, buried it with due respect and built a temple for Sri Anjaneya. In the days followed, devotees made a 23 feet tall Sri Veera Anjaneya. Pujas are performed here too.
Silk weavers around Arani offer their first produce to Sri Anjaneya for development of their occupation without hindrance and getting a fair price for their products. Quarry workers and sculptors pray by placing their tools at the His feet before beginning their work. They believe that there would be no accidents in places of their work. Sculptors believe that their idols would have a fine and beautiful finish. There is a Samadhi of a monkey that died of electrocution in front of the sanctum. First puja is performed to this monkey before pujas to presiding and procession deities.
Beliefs
Electricians pray for safety during their work, safety in houses from short circuits etc. People also pray for education, prosperity, trade development, longevity, child boon, job opportunities and removal of obstacles in wedding proposals. Devotees offer garlands made of Vada a popular preparation of Tamilnadu, betel leaves and lime fruits.
