Special Features

The temple, originally facing east, currently stands in a state of complete ruin. It was once comprised of three distinct shrines, each with its own shikhara (tower), mandapa (prayer hall), and entrance porch. These shrines were interconnected laterally. While the mandapas and entrance porches of the central and northern shrines still remain, the southern shrine has been completely lost, with only its base remaining. Sadly, the sanctum of all three shrines has also been lost.

The remaining two mandapas and their domed coverings are nearly intact and feature intricate carving work. The temple’s walls are richly adorned with carvings depicting deities, social scenes, war scenes, animals, floral motifs, and geometric patterns. Throughout the temple premises, you can find scattered sculptures and architectural fragments, serving as a testament to the temple’s historical significance and the craftsmanship of its builders.
