Introduction
Kadambaravalkai Viswanathar Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva, Located Kadambaravalkai village, Kilvelur circle, Nagapattinam district, Tamil Nadu. The temple is one among the five – Pancha Kadamba Sthalas. This is the place from where Lord Muruga relieved Himself from the Veerakathi dosha. Here the Presiding deity is called as Lord- Vishwanath, and Mother is called as Vishalakshi. The Temple is believed to be 1000 years old.
Puranic Significance
The Lord is facing east and Ambal is facing south side. Both Sanctums are connected by a hall. There is a small lingamurthy of the Lord, Vinayagar and Murugan at the gate of the sanctum sanctorum. There is a small Nandi altar in front of it. Behind it is Kodimaravinayak facing east. There is a small Lord Ganesha on the wall at the entrance gate.
Tenmugan is in a beautiful room in the sanctum sanctorum. In the north-west there is a complex of temples joined by Sri devi, Bhu devi samedha varadarajaperumal opposite Karudavalar and Anjanayer towards the south. In the north-east are the shrines of Kalabhairava chandran and a smaller Navagraga mandapam. Sun is in South East.
