Introduction
Kadalangudi Kachaparameswarar Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva, located in the Kadalangudi village, Kuttalam circle, Mayiladuthurai district, Tamil Nadu. There are many villages named Kadalangudi in Mayiladuthurai and Nagai districts, among which this Kadalangudi is next to Thirajapuram on the Mayiladuthurai – Kallanay road. This town is also known as Redikadalangudi. Kadalangudi Shiva is a separate temple in the north of the town.Here the Presiding deity is called as Lord Kachaparameswarar and Mother is called as Kameshwari.
Puranic Significance
The Temple is believed to be 1000 years old. Lord here is named as Kachaparameshwarar because he is worshiped by Vishnu. This temple, which had been decaying for a long time, has been rebuilt and a completely new temple has been erected. This East facing temple is walled in ½ acre area. However, the way is only in the west, the Lord is facing east and there is a long hall in front of him. There is Nandi altar in front of the Lord. There are Vinayagar and Subramaniya at the Lord’s shrine gate. Shrine for Ganesha, Tenmukhan, Lingolpavar and Brahman durga in Karuvarai Kotam and there are no other idols in Prakaram. Plants like banana and onion are grown in the temple. In the morning, only one Puja takes place in the temple.
