Introduction

Bhavishya Badri is a Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu and is part of the Panch Badri and Saptha Badri Temples of Uttarakhand, India. Bhavishya Badri is dedicated to Lord Vishnu and enshrines an idol of Narasimha, the lion-faced incarnation of Lord Vishnu.

The temple is situated to the east of Joshimath, a town that serves as an important stopover for pilgrims on their way to Badrinath.
Bhavishya Badri is located in the village of Subhain, within the Niti valley of Uttarakhand.

Puranic Significance

The temple is believed to be more than 1,500 years old.
Adi Shankaracharya, a prominent Hindu philosopher and theologian, is traditionally credited with founding this temple. The priests of Bhavishya Badri come from South India.

Legend of Bhavishya Badri:

The name “Bhavishya Badri” translates to “Badri of the future.”
According to legend, when the world is overrun by evil, the mountains of Nara and Narayana (two important peaks in the region) will block the route to Badrinath, rendering the sacred shrine inaccessible.
At that time, the current world will be destroyed, and a new world will be established. In this new world, Badrinath will appear and be worshipped at the Bhavishya Badri temple, taking the place of the Badrinath shrine.
This legend is closely associated with the shrine of Narsingh Badri in Joshimath, as it plays a role in the prophecy of Bhavishya Badri becoming the future seat of Badrinath.
