Vriddha Jageshwar Temple, also known as Budha Jageshwar Temple, is a sacred shrine dedicated to Lord Shiva located in the town of Jageshwar near Almora in Uttarakhand, India.

Vriddha Jageshwar Temple is located about 7 kilometers away from the main Jageshwar Temple Complex.
The temple is situated atop a hill and can be reached after an uphill trek through beautiful pine forests, providing a serene and picturesque setting for visitors.

Puranic Significance

Vriddha Jageshwar Temple is believed to have been built around the 9th century AD, making it an ancient place of worship.
The Jageshwar temple complex, including Vriddha Jageshwar, is one of the significant religious sites in Uttarakhand, known for its historical and architectural importance.
The origins of the Jageshwar temples are somewhat unclear, and they exhibit evidence of different architectural styles and building periods spanning from the 7th to the 12th century, as well as modern times.
While there is a prevailing theory that Adi Shankara may have built some of these temples, there is no conclusive textual or epigraphical evidence to support this claim.
