Introduction
Illupur Naganathaswamy Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva, located in the Illupur village, Koothanallur circle, Thiruvarur district, Tamil Nadu. This town is under Seruvamani municipality and 15 km from Thiruvarur. Illupur is a small town with a small Shiva temple to the east side of the village.
Here the primary deity is called as Lord Naganath Swamy and mother is called as Anandavalli, this Lord Shiva Temple is situated on the bank of a large pond in the south of valliyur.
The temple is said to be more than 1000 years old. As one of the Ashtanagas, Vasuki Thirtha Kulam, is worshiped here, Lord Naganath is offered here. People with Rahu Ketu dosha can worship this Lord and get rid of the doshas. Here durga is facing south side. There is a broken idol of bhairavar. Due to the lack of soil on which the temple is situated, the walls of the temple have caved in and cracks are falling. Only one-time puja takes place. A priest from a nearby town comes and performs puja. But it is not possible to specify the time of puja.
