IDAIKKADAR SIDDHAR

Idaikkadar Siddhar, also known as Idaikattur Siddhar, was a prominent figure in Tamil Siddha Science, which dates back at least five thousand years. Despite its ancient origins, the teachings of the Siddhars remain relevant in today’s world. Alongside Siddha medicine and yoga, astrology plays a significant role in their practices.

Idaikkadar Siddhar’s contributions to astrology are still influential, with yearly “panchangam” beginning with predictions attributed to him. Born in Idaikadu, he led a humble life as a shepherd, often delving into deep meditation while tending to his goats.

His spiritual dedication caught the attention of Bogar, another renowned Siddhar, who imparted his knowledge to Idaikkadar. Under Bogar’s guidance, Idaikkadar mastered Siddha medicine, yoga, and gnana philosophies. He achieved kundalini awakening and experienced union with the divine.

Idaikkadar excelled in astronomy and astrology, once accurately predicting a twelve-year drought. Witnessing the suffering caused by water scarcity, he devised a method to alleviate the drought’s effects and benefit the people.

His poetic style conveys profound philosophical insights, emphasizing the importance of conquering worldly desires to attain spiritual enlightenment. Following Bogar’s guidance, Idaikkadar dedicated his life to serving the people of Thiruvannamalai and eventually attained jeeva samadhi there.
