Introduction
Sri Sangmeshwar Temple is dedicated to lord Shiva located at Kudal Sangam in Hattarsang village near Solapur city in Maharashtra, India. This amazing place situated on the banks of the Bhima and Sina rivers near Solapur city.
Puranic Significance
This temple was built in 11th century (1018 AD) at the time of Chalukyas of Kalyani. It is one of the ancient temples in Maharashtra state. In ancient times the region Solapur and Satara was known as Kuntal. It is depicted on the inscription that Solapur was known as ‘Sonnalige’ later on is was changed as Sonlipure, Sonalpur, Sandalpur, Sholapur, and at present Solapur. At the entrance there are many trees amongst one near to the entrance is a big Banyan tree. There are 18 big stone pillars with beautiful carvings on them. The presiding deity is called as Sri Sangmeshwar. Main features of temples are its unique sculptures, design and architecture of Garbhgriha, towards the Eastside Harihareshwar temple is located.
