Introduction
Ettiyalur Kashiviswanathar Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva, located in the Ettiyalur village, Thiruvarur circle, Thiruvarur district, Tamil Nadu. There are two temples in this town, one is Umama Keswarar Temple and the other is Kashi Vishwanathar Temple. Here the primary deity is called as Kasi Viswanathar and Mother is called as Vishalakshi.
Puranic Significance
The Lord appeared to an old man dream and told that the three Sumangali women fetched water from the Tirthakulam and worshiped it, saying that it would rain, and the people fulfilled it. That year, good rain fell and the city flourished.
The Temple is believed to be 1000 years old. This kashi Lingam was brought from kashi Vishwanathar temple. People who are unable to go to Kasi come here for abhishek and worship. The temple of kashi Viswanathan to the east and Ambikai visalakshi to the south. There is a big pond in front of the temple. Nandi is in front of the Lord. Tenmukhan is in Karurai Kotham, Sandesardhani Sannathi is in Prakaram and all three have separate temples for Vinayaka, Murugan and Mahalakshmi.
